Blue Carpenter Bee Insect Taxidermy Bell Jar

This beautiful bee is distinguished by the rich, bright cerulean hairs on its thorax and abdomen. Only the females of the species have these brightly colored hairs, the males are dark brown, and usually slightly smaller in size. Found throughout Southeast Asia, India and Southern China, these bees are solitary, and burrow into wood to make their nests. Unlike their more familiar counterparts, these carpenter bees do not make honey.
